Ugh. Paint mismatch help
74 Mercedes 240d. So cleaned up some surface rust on the bottom of the door, whipped up a batch of paint and I get this ugly, ugly sight. Paint code near the radiator says "903H" or "Blue, blau."
According to http://www.strichacht.de/daten.html then click on "Fartabelle", you will see that Carquest did match the paint to code. Clearly, this isn't a good match (even for 35 years of old paint) for my car though. Check out http://flickr.com/photos/12323804@N04/1321682179/ to see what I am talking about. I am wondering if it looks like another Mercedes blue or was it possibly painted to something else. Looking at the chart I have a feeling that it is another blue on the page. Curious what you guys think. Thanks G |

The car was probably repainted at some point in its life with non original paint.
The only way to hide it, is a complete repaint.

I would find a place that has an optical color match machine. They even are in a lot of house paint stores now. . Take something like the fuel tank lid in. They can match the color including any fading pretty well usually. The lighter colors are a better bet. Yet yours may be very close. At least you do not need a paint code going in.
