1990 300SE California

Hi All,

I have read (a while back) in some MB forum that California cars have different parts because of emissions, and someone in another part of the US should consider avoiding them. Any truth to this? Any difference in performance or mpg? I found a good example '90 300SE but it is a California model. I am in the Northeast.

Thanks for any help with this.

The only smog device on that car is the catalytic converter, the smog pump and egr. Plus a California car won't have rust.

Confirm no rust in case it was in a coastal environment and no major accident damage. These two issues would be my decision point not CA emissions.

Good luck!!!

California has emissions standards that exceed federal emissions standards. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) sets these standards. If a car that was built to meet CARB standards it will meet federal standards. California cars do rust, especially cars that have resided near the coast.
