Audio 10 for 126?

If I understand this, some later model (210, 140) MB's had a system called Audio 10. Can this be installed in a W126 chassis, and if so, what kind of mods do you have to do for it to work? Also, is it worth it?
Thanks and God Bless,
Dave.

1.) yes it will work (we did one in a 1971 250C)
2.) you have to reprogram the radio in another car first so it thinks its the only unit on the D2B network.
3.) no, its not worth it. Just invest in a nice aftermarket radio, I prefer alpine myself.

Well, I already have a Sony AM-FM CD that came with the car when I bought it. It really looks period 80's (Black Faceplate, Orange Backlights), and works well, but I guess I am just used to having a radio that either said Becker or MB, and kind of wanted it back. Also, is it very hard to replace the antenna mast on this car? Mine is bent, and part of it won't come up.
Thanks, God Bless,
Dave.

antennas are cake. if its still original, unscrew the mast with a 13mm wrench, then turn on the radio. The motor will push the mast out, then take your new one, turn the radio off and insert the cable into the motor and it will pull it in.
