Change Becker 1480 to 1432 with CD changer?
Is it possible to change out my Becker 1480 (1990 420SEL) to a 1432 with a CD changer? If so what modifications would I have to do to do this? Thanks

Whoa...are you sure you want to do that? You realize that the 1432 is a two piece radio? Do you already have the tuner module? In addition, you'll need the big cables that run to the trunk, find a way to connect the antenna to the tuner in the trunk, source the big cable to connect to the changer, not to mention brackets and a place to mount all of it. These cables are not cheap but could probably be found at salvage yards.
Here's a basic diagram of the 1432 system: BE1432 |

Thanks. That was the info. I needed. I won't be doing this. Sounds like it would take a lot of work, resources, time, and big $. I don't want to modify the looks of the car with an aftermarket CD player but it looks as if I will have to do just that.

How will adding a CD player in the trunk modify the looks of the car? You do, of course, know that you can mount the CD player in the same places as the factory ones get mounted.

The Becker 1480 was not CD ready and I don't want to put another unit in the dash other than a MB unit because I don't want to modify the looks. As far as I know the only way to install a CD player would be to add an aftermarket stereo and/or CD changer in the trunk - which I want to avoid - unless someone knows of another way to use my factory radio and add a CD changer? I don't know if there are MB CD units that are compatible with my Becker 1480.
