Antenna problem 300te
Just installed a new antenna in my 300te. It involved cutting some 1989 wires and adapting them to 2005 plug. I did EXACTLY as instructed. When you push the plug into the antenna, one can hear the antenna motor engage, and visually see the antenna mast retract (since it is already retracted, it is visible about 1/32"). No way can I get the mast to go UP. The switch on the dash is ineffective, the radio, on/ off ineffective. Any clues???

sounds like a wire is wrong.
If you have ground and the constant source on right,t he antenna will try to go down. what you probably have is the signal wire that sends Voltage tot he antenna when the radio is on in the wrong place. You really only need 3 wires for the antenna to work in most cars. not sure since you have the switch for the antenna, but in my car, I used another antenna from another benz. it had I think 5 or 6 wires, and I only needed to hook up 3 to get it to go up/down. Ground, +12v and trigger wire (signal from radios antenna output wire) Alon

It sounds like the + and - leads are reversed. In other words, the mast should extend when powered and contract when power removed .... is the opposite happening?
