New to the site..
Does anyone know how to remove the rear speaker and grill from a 2000 C230K? Also, does anyone have any experience with the following audio components? I'm planning on upgrading my car and need some reviews. Head Unit - Blaupunkt Munchen Amp - Either Sony ES 7557, Infinity Kappa 255a or Precision Power 6600 Any additional products or comments are definately welcomed. Thanks in advance for your help!!! 2000 C230K...is it a W202 or a W203...??
The speaker's grill is clicked in the rear deck and has to be taken out seat-side first. The back screen side is hooked in the rear deck. You can take the grill out with a small screwdriver to release the clicked clamps at the seat-side and right & left side of the grill. You can also take out the emergency-bandage-bag and container & push up the grill gently (seat-side first). I don't know anything about the products you mentioned... In my C-class I've got a Clarion head unit and 18CD-changer, 1 Clarion (2x160W) amplifier, 1 Sony (2x60W) amplifier and 1 inferior "Soundwave" (2x300W) amplifier (but this one will be replaced soon). I have Magnat speakers in the rear (2 in the doors, 6 on the rear deck), Pioneer speakers in front (2 in the doors, 2 in the dash), 2 MB Bose dash speakers in the rear ash tray and 2 infinity woofers in the trunk. All speakers fit in the original spots!; the Magnat rear speakers are definitely the best speakers I have ever heard in a benz (they even bass out the woofers, but that is a probably caused by the woofer's soundwave amplifier). The sound is great!!! greetingz,

Thanks for the help MBenz!!
It's a W202 chassis. Here's another question for you. For the dash speakers, where did you place them? There apears to be a grill above the air vents to the far left and far right side of the dash. Is that where you placed them? Also, are they tweeters from a component set or coaxials? And last question...I promise. Did you have to have custom baffles made for the doors, or did you use the OEM Speaker Baffles? Thanks alot!!! |

akong,
Underneath the grills on the dash (above the air vents) is a factory tweeter mounted that is combined into a composed set with the speaker in the front door. The available space underneath these grills is nearly sufficient to mount something descend. I took out the Bose tweeters, fitted them into my rear ashtray and installed Pioneer tweeters on the dash (as shown on the picture). The grills (with tweeters)can be removed by pushing back the clamp that can be seen in the upper, outer corner in the vent ducts. These Pioneers are made to fit the original speaker positions (in dash and doors) and are the best fitted sound producers (150W) I could find for the front of my vehicle. For the speakers in the front door and on the rear deck I only had to take out the OEM speakers and put in the after market ones; they are screwed in by using original screws and mounting possibilities. The speakers in the rear door were different; I have mounted them on/in the door (without cutting any of the chassis) before I installed the door panel. The speakers that can be mounted onto/in the door panel are to small and therefore I mounted them behind the door panels (the windows still function normally and nearly touch the back of the speakers). The complete audio system of my car will be displayed on my web site as well and I hope to have this published before the end of january. If you have any other questions, just let me know; I will answer whatever I can.. greetingz,
