removing antenna from rear quater panel
1992 300D. W124.
Is it easy to remove antenna from rear quater panel (easy for novice body work DIYer?)? I heard one needs an assistant and a special tool. Is the exact and uniform paint thickness (around the hole where the black plastic antenna holder will sit on the rear quater panel) very important?

When removing whole antenna assembly on the rear quarter panel, do I remove the telescopic antenna first?
The first step in Alldata instruction is [remove antenna rod]. I guess they mean that I need to remove the telescope antenna following the removing-antenna-mast-only instruction: have an assistant turn on the radio and withdraw telescopic mast upwards. However, Hynes manual says differently. It does not tell me to remove the aerial telescopic mast first for the complete aerial assembly. Which is correct? ------------------------------------------------- Alldata tells me to remove “cover on left wheel house recess”? What is “cover on left wheel house recess” in W124 sedan? Hynes manual does not mention “cover on left wheel house recess”. It just tell me to remove of side trim panel in trunk.
