I have a 99 CLK320 with a Bose system. The FM radio works fine, but the AM reception is terrible. My 83 Toy pickup radio is better on AM. I noticed in the new Star mag that Becker radios can have the same problem. Is there a tuning capacitor I can easily get to as in the Becker? Or any other suggestions. My 95 C280 had the same problem.

After FINALLY finding the darn tool to get the Bose radio out, I could not spot an AM antenna adjustment.
Perhaps I am missing something. When I first got the car the AM was real bad. I found a loose antenna wire connection behind headliner just back of the top of the left rear seat window. There was a connection block in there and the antenna wire coming from the back was lose. I got it as tight as I could (I could just barley get a finger on it with out taking the entire headliner off) and the AM has worked fine ever since. The Bose does not have the greatest sounding AM section I ever heard, But it does pull the stations in ok. I work at an AM station so I am one of the few who care about getting the AM to work. It is bafflement to me why MB puts such a mediocre radio in such a fine car. |
