I am trying to install a 2nd amp in my system. My head unit has an antenna out which is connected to the antenna. It also has a 12V pulsed out that is connected to the first amp. What is the correct procedure to turn on the 2nd amp?

I am not EXACTLY sure. But I do know that when I had my amp installed (2nd amp, 1st being the factory amp) they bypassed the first amp when doing so.

You need a ground and permanent (fused!!) power, preferable direct from the battery. The remote power to the amplifier can be gotten from the back of the radio, the remote power to the antenna or the first amplifier (whatever the easiest way may be).

I have one powered antenna and three amplifiers connected to the remote power coming from the radio unit...

i believe that you should add a relay to that remote wire once you get two or more amps on it. I think its cheaper to add a 2 dollar relay than risk messing up your remote wire.

An additional relay for the remote of the radio is normally only necessary when you connect it to an amplifier that demands more input (power) to switch on as the head unit provides...As long as the output of the radio remote matches the remote input of the amplifier you can connect to more as one amplifier without any possible problem...

I believe your head unit needs 2 pre-out's if you are trying to use one amp for the front speaker and a second amp for the rears. Best to consult the manual for the head unit.

Good luck...

Just run a wire from the first amp's turn on connection to the second one's. Two amps are fine. I would only add a relay with 3 or more. Please make sure your remote turn-on wire coming from the head unit has a fuse on it. I would hate for you to screw up your head unit by shorting out that wire.

If your head unit only has one set of RCA outputs on it, you can use a "Y" connector to split them. This might make your first amp seem quieter though. Be sure to carefully set the gains on both amplifiers to prevent distortion.

If you need more help, read on at http://www.elitecaraudio.com/forums and http://www.teamrocs.com/technical
