I just bought a 1991 2.6 190E. The car was beautifully maintained, and all of the major mechanical problems that can show up in this model have already been addressed. The car runs like a dream, except for one problem...
The sound system is shot. When you first turn on the radio, it works only out of the right side, at low volume. It then slowly dies out and scrambles. I've tried both the radio and the tape deck, both have the same issues, so I've determined its not the antenna. There have been no after market upgrades toany part of the sound system, its all orginial.
Is the head units wiring just come loose? After all the car is only a few years younger than I am. Or am I looking at a more costly repair of the entire sound system?
