Using SAAB power antenna vice Hirsschman power antenna..(85 300D)
Every time I find a Hirschman power antenna at a Junkyard it always looks like it was on the Titanic. The innards are rotted and rusted and the swiss watch assembly is all shredded.
I had an extra 95 SAAB 9000 antenna and it works like a charm. It fits perfectly and a little bracket remanufacturing in the trunk makes it look great! So heads up everyone. Buy a SAAB antenna on EBAY for say $30 vice $90 for a Hirschman and it will work even better. However, you have some "NON OEM CONFIGURATION" guilt like me... |

Antenna alternative
I came to the same conclusion - but I abandoned the power antenna route alltogether and installed a manual Hirschmann for a Porsche - which fits the 126 perfectly. It even locks shut with a key!
The antenna is the genuine German product and cost all of $18.50 new on eBay. |
