"WAIT" code on Radio

Hi All,
Just bought a 1993 300CE (lovin it). The previous owner installed a new battery and put the wrong code in, many times . I got the code from my local dealer but still waiting for the "wait" code to go away. I have had it on for hours at a time. Can anyone tell me how long it takes for the wait code to go away. Also what will it look like after it does and how do you enter the code. Its a 10 button Becker. I have the CD in the trunk unhooked. I was told that shouldnt be a problem, I need to do some repairs to it. Could there be another problem with it? Thanks Gary

Code Question

I have seen a few radios need a full 24 hours on before "wait" goes back to code. Try that and if that doesn't work then call me for further help.

Thanks Cleeve, I'll hot wire the radio so it's on for 24 hrs straight. I'll let you know what happens.

Just leave the ignition on, It should not draw that much or put a trickle charger on it

Thanks Again Cleeve, I wired the fuse hot from another fuse and left the radio on. In the morning I had code flashing. Now I have a problem with the antenna. I pulled it out and checked it out, cleaned and regreased. I'm still waiting for my maintainence manual for wiring diagrams but I have 12 v on the single wire and 12 v on 2 other wires in the 6 pack plug. I hope its not the circuit in the antenna.

Antenna Question

Check and see if you hear any noise at the antenna when you turn on the radio. That way if you hear noise then the electronics may be ok. If so, then you need the gears replaced. Let me know.

No sound from the antenna when the radio is turned on. I took the antenna apart, cleaned, inspected gears and re-greased. The motor works fine in both directions with 12 volts directly to it. I don't have the tool yet to take the radio out. I looked at the connections from taking off the panels on the sides and they look ok (as far as the limited amount I could see)
What wire on the antenna makes it come up when the radio is turned on?
Is the wiring from the antenna to the radio a straight run, or is there a connection in between?
I manually extended the antenna by turning the motor belt so I could have a radio. The next morning I came out and it was retracted! Turning on the radio didnt make it come up again.
I have a maint manual on CD, but like everyone else in the forums it seem to be quite the learning curve to use it. I'll figure it out its just a matter of time.
Thanks Again for the help Cleeve.
