500 SL Radio Issues and Missing Console slide

I have a 1995 500 SL, with radio cassette and 6 disc Bose CD changer in the trunk. What radio does it have? The Becker site posted by Teqboy says that 1995 SL's are not Becker radios. The radio - manufactured by whom ever - has a burned out backlight for the LCD display. Is there a way i can repair this myself - or do i need to take it to a shop?

Also - in buying this car used, I now note that I am missing the accordion-like beige slide in the center console. At least that is what i assume was there. Now i have what appears to be a cassette organizer/holder that without the sliding cover is nothing more than a crumb catcher.

Any thought on where/how to replace?
W

500 SL Radio Issues

never mind on the radio query - it is an Alpine, and the website for MBenz audio says of my problem:

Blackened, dark gray or cloudy display can not be repaired. Do not send for repair.

Update on rqdio display - had the LCD display replace at La Jolla Radio (San Diego outfit). Dealt with a Cleve - very knowledgeable.

But what about the slide behind the ashtray - how/where to replace?
