Kenwood KDC-X815 Malfunctioning
This unit came with my car. It was a nice unit but one day the face plate just started to rotate into ejection mode without any prompting. None of the other buttons would respond. I tried to reset the unit but to no avail. I checked around on audio forums and found that these units did this after a while. I concluded that it would be less expensive to replace it than fix it, which I did. It has been sitting around since then. Has anyone had this experience? Should I just throw it away, or is there someone out there that knows how to work on audio that might want it for cheap?

Ribbon Cable
Had the same thing happen to me, twice!
Each time it was a break in the ribbon cable that resulted in a default mode (rotate to faceplate removal position) and then shut down in Error mode. Trouble is Kenwood has been very un friendly to treating this as a mfg defect so its a B Level repair at $125 at most Kenwood service stations. Finally replaced mine w/ an Alpine. |

Stoney: I took mine apart but did not see anything. I have no testing equipment for electronics, so put it back together. Do you know if the ribbon cable can be purchased and replaced? If so I would try to repair mine.
I purchased another Kenwood so it would work with my CD changer. Richard
