Modern radio replacement in 240D

Is there a "modern" radio replacement for the stock 1982 240D radio. Something with a little memory slot to play mp3, etc.?

When replacing ball joints, is an alignment job required upon completion?

THanks,
Kurt

There are a million radios you can pop in with those features. Just like any other car.

Any off the shelf radio will fit. I use a Kenwood KDC-X590. (CD, MP3, iPod, HD radio tuner compatible, etc.) I also bypassed the stock fader to let the deck control the front-rear fade.

Ball-joints shouldn't need an alignment but it couldn't hurt to get one anyways.

Be careful if you're using a fold-down head unit; I installed a JVC DVD receiver head unit in mine and the faceplate flips down to load a disc, and to angle up so you can see it from down below.

I can only load discs while the car is in drive or neutral because of the proximity to the shifter.

It's not a problem, really (it plays DVD-R DL full of MP3, so about 90 albums/disc no swapping) but its something to note. If you install something with a full flip-up screen instead of the screen on the faceplate, it might not even have enough clearance to extend fully while the car is in gear.
