Your recommendations for a power antenna replacement

I have an '87 560SL, and the power antenna is about toast.
What do you fellows recommend as an economical, reliable, fully functional power antenna to replace this one?
Thanks for your help. I've only barely resisted the temptation to insert a smilie face...

I'll assume that the $146 from FastLane does not meet your economical requirements.

Try a used parts dealer like Atlanta-Stuttgart or someone local. Check ebay, too.

You could get and aftermarket unit, but I'll bet it will be really difficult to get the antenna adjustment switch to work with it.

Is the motor toast or is the mast toast? I would assume you could replace just the mast for considerably less if it's the mast that's shot.

Mike is absolutely right. Replacement masts are $10-15 in most cases. If you're problem is that it won't go up or down all the way (man, that leaves me wide open ), it's probably just a tired mast. One wrench and five minutes work.

It's actually in the mounting where the motor assembly goes through the fender.

Everything's loose, and tightening has only fractured the plastic washer.

Are there aftermarket fittings for re-mounting?
