Becker Radio glich?

I tried the audio post but got no response. So I how with out intrusion some one can at lease give me a lead on my problem.

first the Mercedes-Benz is a 1992 300-E with 39,994 miles. the car came equipped with a factory electronic Becker radio with cassette and trunk mounted CD changer all factory.

Yesterday when I went to push the power button the antenna would not go up. there was no noice from the radio. an error message of E---2 appeared on the screen. the radio had been working wonderfully since I owned the car.

I check the CD box and noticed the release button would not eject the CD CD holder. There are no CD I no of in this CD holder and it is installed the correct way. I listen to just a couple of stations.

I hope someone can give me some insight to what the problem may be and what the Code I am receiving means?

in your owners manual there should be a code to your radio....you can reset the radio somehow, ill check mine tomorrow, as i had a different problem that required it to be reset. the old fashioned way is always just disconnect the negative lead from the battery for a minute or 2.

i had a problem with my radio saying "phone" so i ended up just changing my radio, with an indash cd changer. IMO it doesnt affect the value of the car, if u keep the factory one and it is easier to change discs while your driving, instead of going into the trunk.

1992 300E radio code problem

Thanks for the support guys. In one of the post it said to check fuse C. I have seen this on the underside of the fuse box cover. Could someone point of from a digital picture were is fuse C . I would like to start with the obvious.

Becker of North America.

I got back an email from Ed Ebble and he said to send the radio head and the CD changer in for a rebuild one cost $225.00 more reasonable than I hoped.

now my big question is since I have no talent and have never done a radio removal for a Mercedes-Benz are their instruction in the DIY site to help me out . I still want to know were fuse C is on the engine fuse box.

however I am elated to fine out it is this simple.

Whoa Nellie!

Look in the right trunk panel. You may find the radio tuner there. It probably Has a DIN cable for the CD changer attached. Remove the DIN cables for the CD and plug in the one for the radio. Also the tuner has a fuse in it if I'm not mistaken.

There should be a paper template residing in the fuse box cover containing the lettering/numbering chart for each fuse location.

If that is missing, you will also notice that each panel in front of the rows of fuses is embossed with the number/letter of the corresponding fuse.

You should also consider checking the purple fuse on the back of the cd player. Mine blew when a cd got stuck.

What you have is a dash mounted control that has a large din cable, which is routed thru your CD and then to the tuner that sits on the rear wheel housing. There is a fuse on the CD bottom, and a fuse on the tuner. you need to remove the CD anyway to get and the fender liner so you can get to the tuner. The CD gets its power thru a "Y" cable from the tuner, so no eject indicates that there is no power.
E--2
1 check cable from radio to CD
2 check fuse on bottom of CD
3 check fuse on tuner (trunk)
This is from mercedes bulletin and indicates looking for voltages and finally replace.
I think on Beckers web page it shows the install if you look up your car
