Replacing the original radio, help with wires

I have installed many aftermarket radios on older cars, but on my 96 E300D it seems a bit more complicated. There are a lot of wires, what are the all for, and I know that there is an amp in the car. I am wondering how that is hooked up. If there is one output from the radio to the amps. I think just a little clarification would help me. thanks

If it's anything like on the S500 (Becker) there would be a total of 36 wires coming out of the back of the radio. Email me at flarracas@cfl.rr.com and I'll send you the wiring list with a terminal diagram/sketch.
