Hey guys, many people have asked me where they can find a changer for their '98 ML320, instead of going to the dealership and paying a grip for it. Any ideas? I'd really appreciate it.

I use the Alpine CHM-S611 in my 98 E430. The dealer installed it and it was cheaper that the MBZ changer.

Kevin,

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate it. Another thing: Do we have to buy any adapters or plugs since in this case, the car is a '98 ML320 instead of a E430? Also, how much dod MB charge you for installing the changer? Where is the best place to mount it?

I think Kevin may be mistaken (my apologies), but I remember hearing that the 1998 ML320 has a Panasonic Radio and is different from the other MB models of that year. I was told that the Alpine model which you mentioned would fit all MB's BUT the ML (it's in my CLK). I think if you search the archives, you'll find other posts on this subject.

Go to Al & Ed's... you should get out the door for less than $400.00. That is assuming that your car doesn't require the fiber optic link.

You can source the matching 10 disk changer made by Becker ( all metal unlike the Alpine that MB pushes) with fiber optik connector from SW Stereo Specialists 800-270-2378. The brackets allow correct mounting. Or You can go to any car stereo store and buy the Panasonic changer with the Peripheral protocol adaptor. The adaptor comes with brackets.
