One of the reasons that I have not installed a trunk mounted CD changer in my '99 CLK is that I was under the impression that the only place they're ever mounted is at the top opnening of the trunk, which interferes with cargo loading. Then I saw a picture of a changer mounted in the little well on the right side of the trunk. Was this some kind of custom job or will the mounting bracket that comes with the Silverstone 2662 allow me to do the same?

The MB deck mounts in the pocket in the trunk floor. I have an aftermarket which is under the cargo shelf. I'm not sure how the brand you are buying will mount, but I understand MB sells the bracket separately, so you may have a choice. It's a matter of preference. Remember, if you keep stuff in your trunk, it may be hard to access the deck if it's in the floor.

are you using the factory deck? if you are, are you planning on using the factory CD unit? it is easy to install. you obviously need to find the signal and "return" cable to connect to the unit. if you take out the right side panel(in the trunk) and look near the back of the rear seat, youll be able to locate it. you may be able to adapt the factory bracket to what you are using if you are not going factory. the battery needs to be moved as there is a stud from the bracket that is bolted using a nut. there is two sheet metal screws that mount it to the top of the "box" metal. a stiff fabric shell with a "lid" to cover the unit is also available from the dealer. if you are not using the factory deck, i would like to ask you some questions...thanks
