Nakamichi in 1992 500SL

Hi all-

I am considering purchasing a Nakamichi MB 75 in dash 6 CD player for my car. Has anyone had any experience with this unit?

I stopped by a dealer today and he went on and on about having to add this and that (another amp, cross over, etc) to my system in order for the Nakamichi to work. Does this sound right?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I am not sold on the durability of the mb75. It will work in your car bur you will definitly need a 4 channel amp to run the factory speakers. The other thing you will need is to run an antenna coax cable from the antenna in the trunk to the dash as the tuner for you factory radio is in the trunk. Good luck!

Hi Scott-

Any recommendations for a simple, in dash single CD player with radio? I prefer the "look" of factory unit but would like to have a CD player.

Sorry to "bug" you! Thanks in advance!

I could only recommend the Blaupunkt headunits. If you look around you'll find factory-lookin' Blaupunkts.

I don't know why you would consider an fm modulated cd changer when your factory radio has the ability with some parts to control an alpine cd changer?I wouldn't even think of fm mod because it sounds so bad.

Hi Scott-

The reason I have been considering the FM modulator is that I was quoted about $600-800 to put in an Apline changer (along with the adaptors) to match my factory head unit.

I am not a big music guy but I would like a CD player.

But why bother with a cd changer if it won't even sound better than Fm? Personally if I didn't wont to spend the money to do the direct connection then I would just listen to cassetts because they sound better than an fm modulator. Do you realize that when the car was new that the factory becker 10 cd changer was a $1100.00 option. Although 6to800 dollars is not cheap it is very reasonable.
