Cure for rattling in a W126

Jus tin case there any other W126 or similar model car owners who hav ethis problem. I discovered this on accident the other night as I was trying to get my keys out of the trunk. Uscrew the 2 screws that are holding the first aid kit lid and storage lid in place. After you d this, the whole rear deck should be able to come up. Once you do this, take out the two plastic trays that are in the first aid kit and storage space and reassemble. You're SQ and SPL will improve dramatically. Thi sshould also work with other models who have similar rear decks.

I have a 300sd. It does not have the first aid compartment. But the plasic trays are there under the rear deck carpeting. Any ideas on how to remove these?

so your car has not lids that open up on the rear deck to reveal the compartments. If not, just search around back there for any sort of screw or clips. It might just be able to slide right up but do not force it. you can also try getting into them from the trunk.
