Help/Questions for 300E Stereo System Install

I have a few questions.

My Becker Grand Prix just started smoking after a few days of not working. That is quality. I really think the stereo system from these Beckers were really crappy. I can't wait to rip all that crap out. Just to see what replacement Beckers cost, I went to www.adsitco.com and they say about $550. Whoever would spend that much money on a crappy tape player deserves to be shot in the knees, unless you want it as a antique or something !

Anyway, maybe I can get some answers to these questions..
I am a big audio guy, but not a car audio guy

1.If I purchase a sony cd/mp3 player for my 300e, will it be compatible with my power antenna (which I replaced a few months earlier to this stupid problem?)

2.Will this replace screw up my alarm system?

3.People were talking about optical and coaxial connections for the speakers to the head unit. Is it difficult to rewire the car, or can we just use the original wires? I'm just going to install 2 new front and rear speakers, no subs or amps, can't I just use the original wires? is this bad?

I appreciate everyones help on the other forums. It will make this self installation (my first, and probably most difficult) much easier. I will definetly follow any recommendations for which speakers to use. By the way, how is Bose for the rear?

Thanks in advance!

Putting in any new radio would be recommended and the wiring to the power antenna is compatiable (it is just a 12 volt trigger that all radios have) As far as rewiring it is necessary to wire past the factory fader control so you can get full power out of your new radio. The alarm interconnection is not something to worry about there is no wiring that needs to be connected for the alarm. I sell and recommend the rainbow 5 in coaxial speakers for the dash as they are exact stock size simple installation and sound great. Let me know if I can help any more!

New Speakers & Head Unit

I should be removing my old Becker today. If anyone wants it, let me know. I don't want any smoking components on my car. The only thing that should show evidence of smoke is the muffler , not my tape player! I'm just freaked out that that thing will blow up. It is really broken.

Anyway, I just purchased the following for my 89 300E:

Sony CDX-MP70 - Head Unit w/ CD & MP3 player
Infinity Kappa 42.3i 4" 2-way Speakers - one pair of them for the front

I am just going to stick with 4 speakers for the car, 2 front, 2 back, unless someone can convince me a sub is worth it. I play lots of classic rock and lots of U2. U2 has got tons of bass, but I don't need Bono shaking my tail lights.

But, I am having a problem with back speakers. First off, I thought the rear speakers were 5.25 in, not 4. If they are 4, let me know. Whatever size they are, what are the best speakers for the rear that can have some nice bass to make up for a lack of a sub. Again, some nice bass is ok, but I don't need to annoy all cars with a 50 foot radius of mine while at an intersection.

I appreciate any help. This is turning out to be a good amount of $$, but I will be driving the car, at least, next year through my senior year in high school, and there will be lots of music playing from here until graduation next year. My 300e is approaching 300,000 miles and I'm putting money into it. Don't ask why, I have no idea. I would prefer to spend money on some nice new 16'' wheels with michelin pilot sports then spending money on 4'' speakers !!!

Again, thanks in advance!
