1992 300CE Antenna Replacement

I need to replace the power antenna on my 1992 300CE. I have found several Hirshmann (copies) on e-bay which list as a replacement for 1992 300. But when I describe my car to the seller, I am told that my antenna has a larger hole in the fender and the replacement will not fit.

If the hole in the fender is too large, why does this present a problem in installing a smaller antenna. Does anyone know where I can get a suitable replacement for a 1992 300CE (Becker
1432 sound system).

The tuner/amps are located in the trunk on the right rear side above the wheel well behind the trim panel. I would suggest an alternate installation facility as circuit city is not qualified to work on a mercedes. The speaker system will work with the alpine radio and have no problems. You just wire all speakers in at the amps in the trunk/bypass the amps and everything will function fine! I would recommend the front speakers be replace as you dont have any tweeters in the front of your car. I sell the rainbow 5 in drop ins and they work great!
What is the problem with your antenna? If you need an exchange we can handle that for you at www.lajollaaudiorepair.com

Good luck!

If the mast is bent or damaged, or the teeth on the mast cord stripped you buy a replacement mast from the dealer, you do not need the whole assembly. They are cheap and easy to replace.

1432 System replacement

Thanks Scott, Do you have an Alpine recommendation which plays MP3 cd and wave cd also? What will I have to do about the antenna lead? Run it to the front?

The antenna lead will have to be run front along with the 4 sets of speaker wires . the 7894 or 7895 would be a great unit for your car! What is the discription of your problem with the antenna?

Broken antenna 1992 300CE

The nylon gear on the mast broke and some of it is lodged in the power drive unit. I bought a replacement mast (which turned out to not fit). So I am back to square 1. There are replacement (complete units) available on ebay but apparently tthe size of the
hole in the fender of my 300CE is larger than the aftermarket Hirshmann copies.

Any ideas??

If the nylon cable is broken off it will be inside the reel in the unit. The antenna can be dissassembled and and the piece can be removed to allow a new mast to load in. It will come apart with a flat head screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers(to remover the circlip that holds the reel on).
