how to access a radio code(used radio)

If you purchase a radio from someone, can the code be accessed once the unit has be powered up, or is this un-doable?

Code Question

Hi 4benzes,
If you purchase a radio that requires a code from someone that did not provide you the code, yes the code can be obtained. If you provide the Model & Serial Number of the unit and let me know I will check my data base and see if it is listed. If not listed there would be a charge to get the correct code. Keep in mind, if the wrong code is entered 3 times the radio will lock itself into the wait state for 1 - 3 hours. If you do this enough times wrong it will lock out for up to 24 hours. Anytime a radio is in the WAIT state you must leave ACC on the car for the complete time needed for it to say CODE again. Or hook it up to a power supply for the time needed. If you do not give it power for the full length of time needed, the WAIT period time starts over. I hope I can help you.

I have a similar problem, except the code I used sucsessfully before has stopped working in our 2000 E430 sport.

Is there any reason how/why a code would change ?

Is there a way to reset the radio by pulling the battery?

The local dealerships say we have the wrong code, we are 100% sure it is the correct one.

Thanks, Rick

Hi,

I have a Becker Grand Prix on my 87 190E. Do these models use codes? I'm just getting the dashes on my display when I turn on the ignition and the antenna automatically pops out. Also the buttons aren't responding. Is there a way to fix this problem? It's been acting like this for more than a week now.

Thanks in advance.

Code Question

Hi bpaz_ph,

Your radio is a Becker BE-754. That radio does not have a direct entry code system in it but rather a dealer only reset proceedure. Chances are the internal battery inside the radio is dead and will come up with the dashed lines every time you disconnect the battery of your car until you have the radios battery changed. If you need futher help feel free to contact me via my WEB site at www.mercedesradiorepair.net

Need to Know precise Model Number

I've got a 2000 SL600 with Sport package and facotry installed Bose package. I'm told I might have either an Audio 10 or Audio 30 radio. Is there any way to tell without pu;;ing the radio which flaovr I have?

If you need to know the precise model, most likely you'll have to pull the radio. Your radio is probably an Audio 30. Audio 10 & 30 are more like "series" designations rather than models. As I recall, there were a couple of different model numbers associated with Audio 30; same with Audio 10.

Find some radio removal keys...dealer, ebay, etc. Makes the job easy.

Question 93 190E Code Entry?

I have a transplant from a 93 190E, I called MB and the tech said my code was 41523. There are only 4 spaces for characters on the display with an asterick button beneath the display.

I entered 4 - 1 - 5 - 2 - 3 and pressed *

It beeped and said CODE.

Note that the 4 disappeared because it is limited to display 4 numbers.

So I entered 4 - 1 - 5 - 2 and pressed *

It beeped and said CODE.

He said that maybe I didnt press the 4 the first time, try again. So I did and it beeped and said HOLD. I am currently leaving the radio powered up to try again.

I had him triple check the code and we went through it numerous times and always came up with the same number : 41523.

Next I will try 1 - 5 - 2 - 3 *.

I have to wait.

ANy help is appreciated. What am I doing wrong?

PRevost
