Turn radio on, suddenly LOUD
 

My '83 TD has it's original Becker Europa am/fm cassette radio. It has the old style pull-push preset feature. My problem is every so often, whne I turn the radio on, the volume is very loud. Obviously the volume control is faulty, I was just wondering if anyone knew what it would cost to get this fixed. Even though it may be cheaper to get a whole new radio, I would like to keep the car original. Thanks

Unfortunately when they do what you are saying you need a new pot and they are no longer availiable from becker. You are best off either upgrading to a new radio or installing a lter model becker.
