Is There A Way To Make Our Cars Look Like This?

This car does not have a chrome finish nor paint work. It's actually an unpainted A8. It's to showcase the Tecnological advances in the Aluminum that's used in A8. Is there a way to make our cars look like this?

Depends on how many oilwells you own ( like the people in the background ).
Anything is possible for a fee.
I noticed the sticker on the windshield says " Do not push " ( on the bodypanels ).

It may not have paint, but you can bet someone's spent an incredible amount of time polishing and buffing.

Aluminum Audi A8 has been in the market for a while. Because there is less rust problem on aluminum than on steel, I guessed that Audi A8 has high value in used car market, especially in my area where cars get a lot of salt in winter. However, it seems that it does not have high resale value. Some MB models and Lexus LS keep their value better.

Audi's original use of aluminum was primarily for weight savings to showcase their technology. I think it still costs more too than the equivalent parts made of steel. The NSX had heat tempered aluminum for body panel strength...it looks like this one doesn't.

It doesn't rust like steel but corrodes when unprotected from the elements. Having it clear anodized would help protect it and maybe maintain the look.

If you want the look, you could paint your car with some chrome spray paint from a hardware store.

You can see them at germancarfans.com. I never knew that that paint was $5000 a gallon. Who sells this paint or who makes it?

There was an letter in last week's Autocar about this. Unless you've got a team of servants to constantly polish the car for you, don't bother. It dulls just sitting there under a cover, much less being driven. I could spend 4 hours just polishing the chrome on my old Rolls-Royce and that wash just bumpers, trim, and the famous grill and "flying lady" mascot.

The idea of a chromed/polished aluminum Benz or any car is just too much. I would think that it is a safety hazard as everybody would be staring at it like a multiple car accident or be blinded by the sunlight reflections gleaming from the hood/trunk or side panels.

But like P.T. Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute" and somebody would want their car just like these.

I recently saw an episode of "Rides" where a famous basketball player had his '03 SL500 customized into a Louis Vuitton "SLV" 500; complete with bootleg "LV" monogram fabric on the seats, soft top lid cover and "SLV" badge on the fender strakes.

Too ghetto-fabulous!!
