I have an 85 300TDT and it is beginning to show signs of cracks in the dash. Is there something I can do to stop this from progressing? And what can I use to mend the cracks? I already keep it sheltered from the sun as much as possible. Over all it is still in good shape.
Thanks for your time. Alec. |

Trust me on this one, don't try it yourself unless you do it for a living. Find someone who has good references who repairs small tears in automotive vinyl. I had a dashboard crack around the vent on the driver's side about an inch long. I asked my mechanic to recommend someone. The guy showed up at my house with all his stuff, took about 30 minutes and charged me 45 bucks. The colour matches exactly, and unless you look with a magnifying glass you can't tell it was ever cracked. It shows absolutely no signs of cracking further and this was two years ago. Do it now, because these things will grow and keep on growing until you practically need a new dash cover. There are lots of good people out there who do this, and they don't have to specialize on Mercedes, although I'm sure you would be more comfortable if you found someone who has done a few Benzes before.
