I cleaned my windshield with some auto glass cleaner (can't remember the name, claims will be streak free or something), but anyway, it rained the following day that I applied this cleaner. Now, after using my wipers, I noticed that I now have black marks on the edge of where the wipers returns. I don't think I had this type of problem before I applied the cleaner. This is the first time I have cleaned the windshield on this vehicle (about a month old car).
Can anyone suggest a better cleaner to use to avoid this kind of thing happening?

I had some streaking with my wipers during the last rainstorm. Can I suggest cleaning the wiper blades with, say, Windex and a paper towel? After cleaning mine this way the streaking was gone, and I was amazed at how much black stuff came off the wiper blades onto the paper towel.

It's been mentioned elsewhere here, but you might want to try wiping down your blades with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. It seems to help clean up the rubber, and I know some of the pricier replacement blade cartridges come with alcohol wipes for this purpose.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try cleaning the blades with a cleaner. Do I need to do this often? I don't seem to recall having this type of problem with my other vehicles.

Thanks again for the help.

Each time you fill up with fuel, take a few seconds to wipe off your wiper blade. I just use the paper towels and windshield cleaning liquid that the gas stations always have....although I sometimes keep paper towels and Windex in my trunk and prefer to use that.
