I have used this several times on several cars including a black CLK55, white Lexus LX470, and a pewter Camry. The CLK55 had only a wax job and it looks great. The biggest problem is the toweling marks and I used the soft cotton towels that Griot's Garage provide. Now, i'm not sure if that is the swirls that people talk about or just toweling marks. I would love any help. The white Lexus looks spectacular! The system sure makes it easier than by hand. The Camry was my Mom's and it looked terrible. It had swirls, scratches, oxidation, etc. I both polished it and waxed it by machine and it looks awesome now.

Has anyone else used this system? I would love any comments.

Most are using the Groitts or Mequires pads, from what I gather. Mequires has a pad with a velcro backing system to make pad changes easier. The Groitts wax removal pad looks interesting, many here have just used the 7424 to apply polish or wax, and use 100% cotton terry towels to remove, followed by 100% cotton diapers for final removal. Pretty similiar systems, great results!

The Griot's stuff is great. I bought my porter Cable polisher at Lowe's for about $100; same one as Griot's & Meguiar's sell. The only reason the polishing clothes you got from Griot's would cause toweling marks is if a) there is something on the towel, or b) they are not actually toweling marks, but residue of wax that has not been completly removed. If done right, you can get great results, nothing beats Griot's "Best of Show" wax.

I have used the system on my black CLK 430 and it works well. It is a tremendous time saver. I used Griots wax removal bonnett once. It worked well to remove wax, but the microfiber material is difficult to clean- it really hangs onto debris, like threads from other towels. I plan on using this system for my future waxings and buffings.

I think its just wax residue that you are talking about. Make sure the polish or wax is dried completely, do the finger swipe test.

Then use the towels making sure they are clean and constantly turn the towel to a new side, then when you are finish, use final inspection or in Griots "system", Speed Shine, and you shouldnt see anymore marks. Make sure your applicators are clean from dirt, if you drop a towel, use another one! Because dirt, rocks, etc. rubbing against your paint will really mess things up.

Out of curiosity, It sounds like most of you like Griots products, do you know if they are used on the show car circut? Or how they compare to Meguiars results wise? The two "systems" are almost identical. By system, I mean clean, polish, wax, (the steps) there products are very identical too it seems. Just wondering...

I've seen pictures and write ups that Griot's products are used in the show car circuits. I have used both products but for different applications and they both seem to be great. I'm thinking of purchasing the boar's hair brush that Griot's Garage has in their catalog. I know this is off topic but has anyone seen the boar's hair brush some place else?

I have the Meguiars buffer with the velcro backing pads. I like them because they are soo easy to change. No more wrenches and all that crap. Just peel and stick on new one and your ready to go.

About the Micro fiber cloth cleaning. I just rinse them a few times, soak in hot water, and wring them, and stick them in the washer and let it clean couple times and place in dryer. I let the washer run once, empty before washign my clothes.

The reason why I rinse them, and soak, etc. before putting it into the washer is because I want to minimize the amount of wax going in there.

Afterall, I will be washing my clothes in it and having wax in there wont help my clothes.
