Fogged Anodized trim strips

Hello All! I just picked up an '84 300td wagon and noticed that on one side the body trim and window trim are fogged, perhaps from a sprinkler running against side of car? Not sure, but either way, I used Simi chrome, Amaze and have yet to diminish the fogging. Anyone else have this problem? I have also seen trim hazed this way from using dishwasher soap which the PO might have done as she seemed like that kind of gal - Any thoughts?

they are not going to unhaze unless they are re anodized. It happens from mistreatment and sitting outside

How can they be re-anodized? Do you bring them to a place that does that type of service, such as re-chroming wheels?

I understand it's similar, remove the trim pieces, have the work done. Too much for me.

the trim on the doors is difficult to remove on the w123 chasis. Good luck finding a place that will strip and reanodize them. A few members here have called around, myself included and got asked "how many pallets" or pounds

With extreme difficulty, it is possible to remove, strip and polish them. With care, I've gotten bare aluminum to keep its shine for a few years (including winters in KY). Stripping and polishing the parts is high-risk, to both the part and you (with metal flying off of the buffing wheel).

Places that do re-anodizing for auto trim:

A regular metal shop probably won't want to touch them because they are flimsy.

I suspect that getting pieces redone might cost as much or more than new parts - a place like the above exists for cars where the trim is essentially irreplaceable.
