how to remove a glove box

If anyone has any tips, i would be very grateful. It has stumped me. I can't see how to get the old one off.

Mine is totally buggered and i need to replace it with a junk yard swap.

many thanks

MJ

On which model? Most models have plastic push-through rivets holding the pasteboard "box" in place.

Generally, remove the light assembly, push on the center of the plastic rivets around the edges, remove the locking latch (not always necessary), remove the hinge strap screws and wiggle it out. The hardest part is locating the center pins of the rivets after you remove them.

I use a small drift punch for the pin removal. A regular nail works as well. If you use a nail, grind/file the point to flat. This will prevent the head of the push pin "mushrooming".

on a W126.
There doesn't seem to be any way to disconnecting the hinges. No hinge strap screws that i can see. Mine started life as either a 500 SE or a 300SDL depending on what VN site you trust.
thanks
