Vacuum Modulator location 300D

Exactly where can I find the vacuum modulator on a 300D.
I pulled the vac line off the brake booster and my shifting problems ( slip) went away. The vehicle would slip at the 2-3 shift and the 3-4 shift before I disconnected the line. Is this called "flare"? Also, I notice that while the shift is positive( firm) with the line disconnected the shift timing into 3-4 is off resulting in higher engine rpm.
I read that the T handle on the modulator can be turned clockwise to improve pressure and reduce the slip.
Can anyone direct me to the location of the modulator and the T handle. Is it in the engine compartment or on the transmission?
