Removal of 300SD dash wood
I have done a search but I'm still unsure on how to remove the dash wood on a 300SD.
I am looking to remove with the aluminum backing and wood trim intact. I've located a salvage unit with excellent wood trim and am not sure how it is held on. Is there someone who has dealt with a 126 and wood trim? How many and what type of attachment points are there? I am pulling the complete "dash set" from door to door. I appreciate someone who can shed some light on this. |
Wood trim
SD Blue,
I don't know about the SDs, but the 123 wood can be removed by reaching behind the dash and twisting the small metal tabs projecting through the back of the dash from the horizontal into the vertical. Each piece of wood trim has two or three of these metal tabs and once they're twisted into the vertical the trim comes right off. Most of the trim can be reached by removing the pocket from the dash. I removed wood trim from a 126 a few months ago. It was a junk car so I pulled the entire dash. There are a series of a few small nuts holding that wood on. I couldn't imagine pulling the wood with the dash in the car.
