slam that door and you will be cool

close to 300k miles on my 83 300dt. the previous owner converted the air conditioning system to 134a. in the two years i've had the car never really used the air conditioner. lately it has been very hot here. decided to charge the system and see what happens. well i went from basically no air to nice cold air. total cost somewhere around $4. bragged and bragged to my friends about my now cold car. then the blower stops running. naturally. so i spend some time here looking for insight. hit the blower and shock the brushes. that is the one that caught my eye. then another post. slam the passenger front door like you really mean it. so that is what i do. and guess what. the blower is now working just fine. realize this is in all likelihood a temporary fix. so be it. the point. want to thank whomever suggested the door slamming. god, love this board. thank you all.

Not the trunk, the hood!

When the brushes get thin on the blower moter for a W126, I just kick the panel underneath the dashboard. And it starts working. I actually think the term for this panel IS a kick panel.

How novel.

Yeah, its the brushes in the motor.. you give the panel a swift kick and it will come back on. Fix it now or soon the kick won't work anymore!

Slamming the trunk WILL make it run better if it is a fuel delivery problem. All other engine problem causes require slamming the hood.

You need to fix that blower motor pronto.

Good luck,
