'shaky' 190 D?
I've been offered, for sale, an '86 190D.... with the following symptoms:
"THE BAD: The car knocks and shakes a bit when at stop lights and the like, on the freeway or when youre cruising along its not noticeable at all. This is to be expected in all diesels (at least the older ones) but the knocking and shaking got worse about 4 months ago. My mechanic (regular MBZ mechanic; i have a gas mercedes as well) told me that it could be an injector, or a slough of other things, but since its built like a tank, if you dont mind the lack of power and shakiness, then its not a big deal. " Now, I'm real new to Mercedes... this isn't typical, is it? Any ideas what that would be? Thanks! Neil |

Yep sounds like engine mounts. Does the 190D have engine shocks also? They should be replaced along with the mounts.

Get those engine mounts replaced, pop a bottle of diesel fuel catalyst open, throw it in the tank, and hit the gas!
(youll enjoy that new smooth idle even more when youre injectors are cleaned up a bit and the peace of mind that shaky symptoms wont return when your fuel system gets gunked up, cos it wont!) I love that stuff!!!

Does the car have an OVP relay? If so, it's a candidate for checking. Does the IP have an electrical connection on the back side? If so, does the idle rpm drop when you remove the connection? If not, the rough idle could be related to the OVP relay or the EDS system if the car has this.
