Purchase Question on 83 300D
Fellas found, a 83 300d with less than 100k on the clock. Paint great condition, no dents, scratches and rust. Interitor like new , no cracks or tears. Runs and stops great and smooth. AC blows cold and hard. All acc work.
Only catch has a salvage title. Was in accident. What do you think, at right price worth the risk? Thanks Andy |

Andy,
It does not take much for an insurance company to total one of these older cars. I would have a mechanic check it out and look the body over to make sure the repair has been accomplished competently. Any idea where it was hit? Any history of who fixed it and what the extent of the damage was? Give it a CARFAX check to see if there is any evidence of odometer replacement or any details on the salvage title. I would also, always, have a compression check done on a used car, of any make or model, before buying it. Especially on a Diesel. There are external engine things to fix, most of which are DIY type repairs, and then there are internal engine things to fix, which typically are not DIY unless you are experienced. Good luck, Jim
