does our every day driving dish out the same abuse as A taxi service

just wondering if our every day normal driving is any where near the same as A taxi company I have an 82 240d which I know they used for quite awhile, anyways any info would be great. BTW did they beef up their cars for taxi service or are they factory stock? thanks

Hmmm?
Well, I was a cab driver for a year in the mid seventies.
Yes, mine gets driven like a taxi.
As far as I know, the taxis are normal production cars.
Some drivers do modify them for comfort and durability.

For many years Mercedes were used as Taxis by independant drivers in Central and South America. They were valued for their dependability and by being dedicated as a Taxi, the normal 300% duty on a new car was avoided.

I had the pleasure of being in one when the driver rolled it over on the mountain road outside of San Jose, Costa Rica.
