Modulators, pressure, gauges, etc, etc..
So I finally built a gauge, installed the new green modulator I bought months ago.
For everyone's future searching... W116 SD, the banjo bolt on the ALDA IS the right LENGTH and SIZE to use on the tranny. Then you purchase an air tank pressure gauge from Lowe's or wherever, a length of white tubeing that will fit the ALDA fitting, and also nicely fits the male barbed fitting the you screw into the gauge, also from Lowe's, and your in business. I got the pressure specs from here, something like 42psi at 31mph or there abouts, mine was at 60psi. I ended up after some playing at about 49psi. 1-2 and 2-3 can be made pretty darn good now, the trouble of the lazy 3-4 is still there, but not quite as bad. I'm going to have to reduce the vacuum a little when I get time, it'll still kinda loaf it's way into 4th if your light on the throttle. I'd really, really like to know why this is. I've had an educated guess given to me that it's one of the clutch drum seals leaking down and takeing longer than it should to pressure up. That seems to make sense. I'm tempted to try rebuilding the thing. 267K now, pulling about 700 miles a week lately. And the beat goes on..
