Where is the aspriator motor in a W126?

On our trip to the Brickyard the other weekend, my brother's 300SDL showed all the typical symptoms of a broken hose or failed sampler motor for the temp control -- it would get freezing cold, even though I was bumping the temp dial up, then the heat would come on for a while, then the temp would start to drop again, getting very cold, then the heat would come on, etc.

I'm pretty sure everything is mosly OK (no freon this summer, I recharged it becuase it held a decent vac), but I don't know where the sampler motor is to check it!

Thanks guys

Peter

Peter,

On the '86 and later 126's the sampler/aspirator motor is at the far right of the dash. You have to pull the glovebox liner to access it. The resistor for the interior temp sensor is stowed behind the grate in the front dome light. A hard plastic tube connect the two.

Great! Sounds like the W126 (at least 1986 and newer) won't have the disentegrating foam tube of the older models.

Yikes, I barely got that one posted before the replies came in!

Thanks -- I was guessing the location would be similar, but wanted to check before diving in.

Bad thing about the rigid tubing is that I probably need a new motor instead of a bit of foam hose....

However, I found that the motor on the TE wasn't connected to the hard plastic pipe completely, so that was an easy fix -- cycled continuously heat/AC, the switchover valve sounded like castanets!
