2 Recent Diesel Inj Observations . . .
While waiting for a length of replacment line for the injector bypass/return lines, I cut and installed appropriate lengths of the clear fuel line typically used for my string trimmers. It was a slightly smaller ID but seemed to work okay. When the new line arrived I ignored tending to the replacement since I wasn't experiencing any (recognized) problem. The other day one of the inappropriate lines blew off so I cut and installed the correct hose from injector to injector. Now possibly it is my imagination, but I am nearly certain there is a (positive) difference in how the engine is running with the proper line on. Not certain . . .
Used diesel purge on my '87 300TD for the first time yesterday. THAT certainly made a difference. Smoother idle, less smoke (wasn't much before) and smoother performance. One of my sons noticed a difference in the acceleration and asked me what I had done. I should add that he notices things such as a new squeak if I have worked on the dash or something. Just wanted to share these observations. |
Steve,
C an't see where fuel return lines would make any difference, but the Diesel Purge sounds interesting. Peter |
