Moral and Civil duty or None of my Business
 

A guy at school found out today that I drive a diesel. apparently he does too. blah blah blah. brag brag brag. he's a kind of guy you try to avoid.

Anyway, he continues on to brag that he uses the red dyed farm diesel and pays only $1 a gallon. no road tax i guess.

Question. should i report this guy? will reporting this guy ruin my good karma or is it my moral obligation to report cheaters. I pay the road tax, and so do you. But this guy does not.

What would you do?

Baaaad karma to narc but, remind him that it's illegal and, expensive if caught. Then, as a sidebar, mention that one of the Forumites you occasionally correspond with is a Federal agent. :D

I would just leave it alone. What goes around comes around -- no need for you to give him a push in that direction -- it will happen of its own accord.

He will brag to the wrong person and cut his own throat, keep your karma, pity the fool.

maybe he has farm plates. Registered owner could be the family farm and it's considered a farm vehicle that his daddy just lets him drive to school.

Or not...but don't mess with karma. a dick always gets dicked in the end, an ******* always gets the **** squeezed outta it.

Doesn't matter in most states how it is registered, if it is driven on the road, it must be using clear diesel.

I'm with PEH here. If the guy runs around bragging with the loud mouth of his long enough it will eventually catch up with him. Sounds like the kind of guy I would avoid. Wonder how he tips;)?

I agree. I would like the ability to use untaxed veggie oil someday without feeling guilty. :cool: Are there degrees of guilt? Are you less guilty for using veggie oil or biodiesel than for using "farm use" diesel? :confused:

Speaking of using public roads without paying any fuel taxes.... how about those bicycle riders out on winding hilly roads that are a real hazard to either getting hit or driving a car into the ditch to avoid them.....

Biodiesel should be able to be used under the same loophole that allows electric only vehicles on the road without paying road use taxes. First, it's technically an experimental fuel, and second, when used in pure form, it's an alternative fuel that is not drived from fossil fuel sources. IMO, it should be tax exempt under the same premise as electric cars. Since nobody is dying the stuff red when they're cooking it up in their garages, it would be difficult for any tank dippers to prove on the fly that the fuel was indeed non taxed fuel.

As for mr big mouth, personally, I feel that I have much bigger fish to fry with my own daily problems and foibles to worry about him. :D

As other's have said. He'll be bragging up to the wrong person one day, and he'll get his due rewards.

I am not a veggie guy yet. Just a lurker, wanna be.

What gets me is that they scream that they should be allowed to share the road, but NEVER follow the rules of the road. We have parkway roads in DC that have groups of 100 bikers that just blow through stop signs enmass while cars have to follow the rules.

Well, I just got back from class and this guy just seems to keep going. I've decided to not turn rat on him. I have a feeling he will do it to himself.

Now he wants to drive my car to see how much slower the 4 cylinder version is. Not going to happen. It's ok to look, just can't touch.

About his tipping. I don't know nor care to find out.

Sorry Alan, Did not mean to get you started..... I live in " Lance Armstrong Country" ... and the road I live on seems to be the right distance from Austin.... to attract yellow wristband people on bicycles a lot.... it is just a two lane road with some hills.... and lots of belly dump gravel trucks to boot....
