Question Replacing seats with other Benz chassis

I just bought a 1985 300SD. I know it is the 126 body chassis but want to know if I can use seats from other body style Benzs, particularly a 124 body chassis? I would think even though the frames may not match up to the body, the seats themselves would bolt onto my current frames. Am I way off?

i flipped over a seat from a w126 and it gave a part number beginning with 123.
i took covers off a w124 and they matched the pattern of a w123, but i haven't
tried them yet.
backs are different.

Question Should be able to bolt frames to seats

My thought was that I should be able to take the seat off the w124 frame and attach it to the w126 frame. I might have to adapt a little but I was hoping someone had done it already. I of course want to keep all my parts MB but a newer seat will have better leather and padding/springs.

Anyone else out there ever put in different chassis style seats?

Your best bet is to find seats from a late model W126. The pattern is different but the newer seats will feel MUCH better - and they'll bolt in without modifications.
