Dyeing my seats.............Leatherique
I recently purchased a kit from leatherique.com based on a referral by a former forum member. He had redone his SD and was raving about the product.
Well I am here to echo his statements and go a bit further. My SDL's interior is creme beige and after 324,000 miles it was faded and almost a grey in color. There is such an amazing color difference it's shocking. It is so easy, anyone with knowledge of wet sanding and some patience can make your cars interior look like new. I have only done the rear headrests so far becasue I wanted to get a feel for the process. I started the initial process of rejuvenating the leather about 36 hours ago. Yesterday aftenoon, I sanded it and last night I dyed them. I just woke up for no reason other than to see that results and the headrests look new, with the exception of a small brush stroke on one of them. I let the brush go to dry on the final coat and didn't realize it. Easy enough to fix. I'll post some pictures tomorrow, but I have to say that the 170.00 I spent on the kit will be well worth it. Their customer supoprt is awesome as the owner personally helped me with some questions i had. He and I have the same color SDL's and he's a benz fan. Just thought I'd share.

Sounds great but let us know when the whole job is done. I need to do the same thing as my 300td has faded [in spots] to an almost pinkish color.
Thanks-- Cheers, Bill |

Back around 1987 I redyed the leather seats on my BMW 630CSi.
The leatherique matched the original color perfectly and sprayed on very easily with no apparent flaws. The best part of the process was that they continued to look really nice until I got rid of the car around 1996. Like any "painting" process I think that the preparation dictates the results. Good luck in your project. Tom |

Looks like a good cure for the pinkomino syndrome! The only fading I have is on the top of the rear seats.... glad to know I wont have to stare at an ugly upholstery shop bill until I get the front seats re-sprung!

Well my seat are finally done and they look great.
I'll post some pictures after this hurricane goes thru. Are the seats supposed to match all of the interior plastic trim? Or would there be a diffferent color for seats and plastic trim. I noticed that the seats match most of the interior trim, but not all. Thanks
