diesel injection pump.
 

Installed the injection pump om my 300d, have no pump pressure at all. Engine has totally been rebuilt, new sleeves,pistons rings, timing chain,etc. I live in Mobile, Alabama, and nobody i know around here can rebuild a injection pump. Heard to many horror stories of the few available shops around here. Where i can i send it to be rebuilt. Sure wished i could do it myself, but that is the way it goes. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you primed it with the hand-actuated lift pump?

Do make thorough attempts to bleed system first. My hand pump was terrribly leaky from age. The replacement one is $20 from bosch and is wonderful. If you still need a service center, check www.boschservice.com

He was pretty cheap, as Salina is a very low cost place to live.
I doubt if a Mercedes Bosch would phase him at all. Lots of old tractors use Bosch pumps.

What do you mean by no injection pump (IP) pressure? To have pressure, you have to have resistance to flow.

Do you have the pipes off the IP? There should be a little fuel flow out of the nipples on the IP when you crank the engine. Its not much and it won't squirt out.

If nothing comes out, there is probably air in the IP and it needs to be bled out. Make sure the air is bled out before you send the pump out for repair. Take off the fuel line to the IP and see if any fuel comes out when you pump the manual pump. IF it does, then put your finger over of the end of the fuel line and see it the hand pump developes some pressure. There has to be enough pressure to overcome the overflow pressure valve in the IP. If there is no or only a little pressure, you probably need a new manual pump.

Is this the IP you had on the engine before you rebuilt it? If it is an dit worked OK before, there isn't much you can to it to make it not work as long as you didn't take it apart.
