Good day for the 300D
She got new front calipers and pads today, fresh brake fluid, an oil change and fuel filters. Next projects are changing the manual trans fluid (what do I use?) and rear end oil (what viscosity?).

How are things going Turbodiesel? I thought you were going to replace those caliper's over a month ago.
 I used Mobil 1 75w-90 in my diff.

Yeah I know, things got really busy and I havn't even driven the car in over a month. I finally got my WorldPac wholesale account (the place where BenzBin gets thier parts, plus I can pick up my parts 10 minutes down the street).

I'm in the same boat, I'm having a hard time keeping up with my SDL's repairs. I have to get on the ball because I drive it 400 miles a week. Hopefully this weekend I can do the rear subframe bushings, next week is steering week.

Manny tranny uses auto tranny fluid, they have for at least 40 years.

Any idea on how many quarts of ATF? I see a drain plug on the bottom.. I think I see a fill plug on the passenger side. I don't see a dipstick.

Differential oil
I would be inclined to use Mobil1 for both tranny fluid (auto or manual) and the differential, of the suggested weight.
It costs a bit more, but it should last for years and is probably as good as or better than the rest.

Manual tranny should take a bit less than 2 quarts. I use Redline MTL.

Fill it slowly until it is just about to run out the fill plug hole. Car should be on a level floor or driveway of course. That is about all there is to it. As mentioned, ATF is the fluid of choice since at least the days when my '68 220D was built.

John, good to see you back
Diesel mode is much more your style than the Crown Vic. Good to see you back in a smelly car.
Where is WorldPac. I am a religious FastLane customer, but sometimes need a part ASAP for my old 1977 300D. Dealers NEVER have parts, but if WorldPac is a good place to pick parts up in a pinch, I would like to know where it is. Maybe we should meet out at the park and check out the new wheels. Jim
