26.7 Vdc????
just did a complete engine swap and im trying to get her started,
I had to order the new bosch primer pump, b/c the old one leaked. I think this could be my problem. Anyway, i was cranking on her today, b/c someone said it took him a total of 4to5 minutes of cranking and a battery charge to get his started after a swap. After a few times of cranking her over, i began to hear the starter begin to slow, and i figured id need to put the charger on it, but first i checked the voltage... 26..7 VDC?? how could it be, i checked it yesterday and it was at 12.2 ?? i hadnt put the charger on it yet..? anyone know what this is?? Also, the GP light (i think) doesnt come on.. Is this the one that looks simular to a spring?? I voltage tested the GP's and i couldnt get anything, could this be contributing to no starting?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

I would change the glowplugs, or if you dont think they are heating up try this. DON'T BURN YOURSELF!!!! Take one out and turn the key to the glow position and see if it gets hot. But the engine should start without them.

Look for the pre-glow relay.
There is a strip fuse(strip of metal) in it. The fuse could be blown. On the w123 it is on the driverside fender under the hood. Edit:Sorry, forgot to add that you have a w126 and I don't know where it is located for that model. Louis. Last edited by mb123mercedes; 09-22-2004 at 10:31 AM. |

Does it have a 12v/24v switch, for charging truck batteries? 12.2V is too low to charge a 12v battery, which normally sits at 12.6v when sitting idle, up to 15v shortly after starting and 13.6 v when the car has been running for a while. A battery charger usually provides up to 17V open circuit for the 12v setting. Quote:
