What is Diesel Purge?
I am Canadian, so what do I know? Many threads talk about Diesel Purge. I know what it does but is "Diesel Purge" a generic name for any product that cleans the injectors, or is "Diesel Purge" an actual trade name?
If so, then who makes it? Where do you Americans buy it? Thanks Phil

I recently went through this within my constant learning curve . . . diesel purge is the type of product and describes what it does. LubroMoly (spelling?) is the brand that I purchased and recently used. It works good and should be used every so often (don't know how often since I believe that would depend on several factors). Though I am relatively new to the MB diesel world, I believe having and using it is well worth the price.
If you do another search you will find links to where it can be purchased and how to use it. I have my dedicated glass jar with hoses & clamps well sealed for the next time . . .

Diesel Purge is a specific product made by German company Lubro Moly. Kind of hard to find, I got mine from **************.com. They also give you a little copper tube and instructions on how to use it.
You run it directly through the injection pump (not into the tank), it cleans the injectors better than anything else out there. They also make various fuel additives that are supposed to be good. I think I will pop a bottle of their valve cleaning fuel additive in my 83 300dt at some point. If your injectors are really clogged you may need to run 2 cans in a row the first time. Some mechanics recommend running a can every six months as a preventative measure.

You will not get that stuff across the border with regular mail as it is nasty. I got some at a diesel truck repair store. Try there.

I thought "diesel purge" was the name of that government program that takes all our old dirty diesels out of the country. Normally they then are resold in Canada, eh?
I could be wrong. |
