Is this good fuel consumption?

1984 MB300DT

Driving pattern: City (85%) and Highway (15%)

Current Odometer: 203,000 kilometers

12 month period AVERAGE consumption: 10 liters per 100 kilometers

Modification: K & N Turbo Intake Kit

Fuel additive: Howes every fill-up

Engine oil: Synthetic

Can someone please convert this to miles per US gallon and miles per Imperial gallon?

mpg

You are getting 23.67 miles per U.S. gallon

You are getting 28.41 miles per Imperial gallon.

For city driving, this is considered typical for an OM617. Mine typically does 28 mpg for strictly highway driving.

Thank you for the conversion.

Somewhere I've read that other owners are achieving as high as 35 miles to a US gallon, I'm not even close!!

Note: Your numbers are much better considering you have an SD which is heavier.

Don't believe everything you read. The only way a 617 is getting a consistent 35 mpg is if it is going downhill.

Some members can get just over 30 mpg but the vehicle is to be considered exceptional.

The SD is about 200 lb. heavier. It has some benefits in aerodynamics when compared to the 300DT. The only reason that I get 28 mpg with the SD is that I use it strictly on the highway. I should also note that my 28 mpg is not a figure that will stand in the winter. Once the changeover occurs to winter fuel, the number drops to 24 mpg on the highway.
