small experiment

after all ive read about the benefits of running veggie oil in diesel cars i decided to try a small experiment.purchased 3litres of oil onsale at the local grocers for approx $3 cdn.then i added this directly to fresh full tank of diesel of approx 60 litre giving me approx a 5% mixture in my 1980 300sd.observations include a noticeable improvement in idle quality even with this small amount of veggie, improved exhaust smell definately less acrid than normal and no loss of power.definately better than any diesel additive ive ever tried and cheaper too.next experiment will be a 50% mix just for fun

Be careful just dumping in oil as the weather gets colder. It doesn't really mix that well without a lot of agitation and if it is too cold out, you are going to have a big lump of solid veg. oil in the bottom of your diesel tank.

I've run my TD down to nothing in the tank and ran 3 gallons of veggie oil (I believe corn oil).

It ran exactly like diesel while under load. Idle was smoother. But the effect I liked most was the exhaust smelling exactly like burnt popcorn!
